Local residents are invited to attend a series of free water conservation workshops every Wednesday night in March sponsored by the city of Woodland and the Yolo County Resource Conservation District. Sessions will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, 2001 East St. Topics to be covered include:
* March 6: Water-wise landscaping, water conservation in the home, runoff retention and rebates available for purchase of conservation devices;
* March 13: Alternatives to traditional turf as well as techniques for removing turf grass;
* March 20: Drought-tolerant plants and how to integrate them into your yard; and
* March 27: Irrigation techniques and how to water with the weather.
Participants who attend all four workshops will be entered into a drawing for water-wise landscaping prizes.
