Folks looking for an authentic Halloween experience are invited to visit a Haunted Forest in Winters, from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday through Monday (closed Sunday). The setting is 2 miles west of Winters on Grant Street (Highway 128). Follow the signs through town.
Presenters Sherean and Sam Maynard describe the event as a “safe, scary, fun Halloween experience” for teens and adults in Winters, Davis, Woodland and Vacaville. The experience is not recommended for young children.
Admission is $10 per person (cash only).
“We did a Haunted Forest last year and it was such a hit among adults and youths that we decided to open a larger scale event to the public, and offer five nights,” Sherean Maynard said in a news release.
Haunted forests are a different experience than a haunted house, she said.
“Picture yourself in a dark, isolated forest. The setting is so real and spooky: the sounds, the dark, the trees, the dirt, the smell. Just that alone frightens people and then you add the haunting and it’s an experience never to be forgotten.
“There is something so bone-chilling about being followed or watched in the woods.”
