Woodland fire victim identified

By April 6, 2011

WOODLAND — The woman found dead at the scene of a Woodland apartment fire Monday has been identified as Sandra Kay McLane, 72, Yolo County coroner’s officials said Wednesday.

An autopsy was conducted Tuesday, but Chief Deputy Coroner Robert LaBrash said his office is awaiting the results of toxicology tests before making a ruling on McLane’s cause of death.

“We know there were thermal injuries, but we don’t know if that was the cause of death, or if it occurred after,” LaBrash said. Tests results are expected to be completed in two weeks.

The fire occurred Monday afternoon at the Colonial Terrace Senior Apartments, 59 W. Lincoln Ave. Two other people were displaced from the first-floor apartment, where fire officials say the fire apparently began in the living room.

No new information on the cause of the fire was released Wednesday. Woodland Interim Fire Chief Rick Sander said the investigator is awaiting a cause-of-death ruling before completing his report.
