Woodland historical award winners announced

The winners of the 2014 Heritage Home and Preservation Award have been announced by the city of Woodland’s Historical Preservation Commission.

The awards will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3,  in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 300 First St., in Woodland.

The three homes selected to receive the Heritage Home Award are:
* The Barzo home at 543 Third St., constructed in 1927;

*The Westwood home at 310 Cross St., constructed in 1896; and

*The Monley home at 421 Pendegast St., constructed in 1912.

The individuals or organizations selected to receive the Preservation Award are:
*Meg and Tom Stallard;

*B.J. Ford; and

*Sacramento Valley Historical Railways.

The Heritage Home Award recognizes a home’s historical significance as well as the owners’ hard work of preservation.

The Preservation Award recognizes individuals or organizations who have worked to preserve Woodland’s historic resources or have helped to improve awareness of local history.
