A 40-year-old Woodland man was jailed Saturday night after allegedly slashing his younger brother with a knife during a fight, Woodland police said.
Officers were summoned shortly before 10 p.m. to the Autumn Run Apartments, 1180 Matmor Road, where witnesses said the brothers were engaged in a physical fight in front of their apartment. While they were en route, police learned that one of the brothers had been stabbed, Sgt. Tom Davis said.
Officers arrived on scene to find the 34-year-old victim “lying on the ground with a large cut to his abdomen,” Davis said in a news release. His brother, identified as Khalid Hussain, also was on scene and was taken into custody.
Hussain was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. His brother was taken by ambulance to the UC Davis Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition Sunday morning after undergoing surgery, according to Davis.
Police recovered the knife allegedly used in the slashing, Davis said.
