The Woodland Public Library has reopened after closing its doors for two weeks for painting and general reorganizing. The children’s area, nonfiction room and bathrooms have received fresh coats of paint, trading in the old dusty pink for a bright cream.
The children’s area has undergone a major transformation, boasting a brand-new collection courtesy of funds made available by the California State Library. More than 1,500 new paperback titles were added to open a new series collection. Library patrons can now find series favorites from Ramona Quimby to Junie B. Jones on the shelves. This collection is non-holdable; the books are reserved for Woodland patrons only.
The layout of the room has changed as well with an expanded storytime area and a new toddler playtime zone with activity tables and interactive wall panels.
The library also is expanding its storytime program by adding Spanish and “lap sit” (for infants through 2-year-olds) sessions. The new schedule is “lap sit,” 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays; toddlers, 10 a.m. Wednesdays; Spanish, 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays; and preschool, 10 and 10:45 a.m. Thursdays.
The library is at 250 First St. in downtown Woodland. For more information about library programs and policies, visit www.cityofwoodland.org/library or call 530-661-5980.
