Woodland woman accused of stabbing daughter

By From page A4 | August 08, 2012

A Woodland woman was hospitalized with a stab wound Saturday, and police arrested her mother on suspicion of inflicting the injury.

Reports of a “domestic disturbance” brought police to an apartment in the 100 block of West Lincoln Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m. When they arrived, the 35-year-old victim told officers she had been fighting with her mother, and that the older woman had stabbed her, Sgt. Don Beal said.

The daughter was transported to Woodland Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for a laceration to her head that was non-life-threatening, police said.

Beal identified the mother as 58-year-old Ardean Brown, who was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing great bodily injury. She was lodged at the Yolo County Jail.

Investigators are still seeking witnesses in this case, Beal said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Woodland Police Department at (530) 661-7800 or (530) 666-2411.
