Woodlander arrested for alleged kidnap attempt

By April 2, 2011

Woodland police have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with an alleged kidnapping attempt outside a Woodland CVS store in February.

Surinder Singh of Woodland was taken into custody Friday on suspicion of assault with intent to commit rape, Lt. Anthony Cucchi said in news release. He was lodged at the Yolo County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Singh is suspected of approaching a 26-year-old woman outside the CVS store at 7 W. Main St., engaging her in a brief conversation, then grabbing her arm and attempting to pull her to his car, police said. He fled after being confronted by a passerby.

Singh was arrested without incident in the 600 block of Acacia Way, Cucchi said.
