By From page A5 | June 14, 2013

“Give us your torn, tattered, worn and faded American flags,” says Yolo County veterans service officer Billy Wagster, “and we will ensure that the proper pomp and ceremony is performed to honor the retirement of these grand symbols of our heritage.”

The Yolo County Veterans Coalition will host an American flag retirement ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at the West Plainfield Fire Station, 24901 County Road 95 west of Davis.

Until then, worn, tattered and faded flags may be dropped off at several sites in Yolo County:

* In Davis at Davis Ace, 240 G St.;

* In Woodland at the Veterans Service Office, 120 W. Main St., Suite A; at American Legion Post 77, 523 Bush St.; and at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1985, 345 W. Kentucky Ave.; and

* In West Sacramento at VFW Post 8762, 905 Drever St., and at VFW Post 9498, 1708 Lisbon Ave.

Winters residents may call John Sexton at 530-795-0751 and he will pick up your flags.

For more information, call Wagster at 530-406-4850.
