Young kids, parents can play and learn at library

By From page A15 | October 13, 2013

The Stephens Branch Library, 315 E. 14th St. in Davis, will host a four-part parenting workshop series for children age 1-3 and their parents. The series runs from 10:15-11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, from Oct. 16 to Nov. 6.

These workshops will provide preschoolers and their caregivers opportunity to play together with developmentally appropriate toys, learn together with children’s health and developmental resource guests, and get to know other parents in the community with like-aged children.

Dramatic play, music and art, gross and fine motor skills, as well as books and puppet play will be incorporated into the series. Presenters will include a nutritionist, pediatrician, pediatric occupational therapist and children’s yoga specialist.

Due to the focus on young children, older siblings may not attend.

This series is sponsored by First 5 Yolo, Family Place Libraries and the Yolo County Library. The workshops are free, but registration is required and space is limited.

The workshops will take place in the Activities Room of the library, which is accessible for people with disabilities. For more information or to register, contact Peggy Rollins at [email protected] or 530-757-5593, ext. 4.
