Mud mania

Children play in the mud and make mud pancakes at Gan Haverim Preschool in Davis on Wednesday in honor of
Inernational Mud Day organized by the Nature Action Collaborative for Children and the World Forum Foundation. The event started as a project for orphans in Nepal, to help acquaint them with the environment. Then, a group of children in Australia learned that some children in Nepal couldn’t play in the mud because they couldn’t afford a change of clothes or soap, according to an NACC newsletter. The Australian children began raising money to help kids in Nepal. This project led to a joint Mud Day in Australia and Nepal, which grew into this year’s international celebration of playing in the mud. For more information, go to http://worldforumfoundation.org. Gan Haverim is
offered through Congregation Bet Haverim in Davis. Sue Cockrell/Enterprise photo
