The most popular summer herb, basil is easy to grow. It gives best flavor in full sun, but will be acceptable even in some shade. Regular types include sweet basil, Genovese, Italian large-leaf, and more. Spicy Globe is a dwarf type with more pungent flavor and aroma, suitable for growing in pots or small gardens.
