Andrew Twohy Leiser

Andrew Twohy Leiser died May 16, 2011, at his home in Davis. He was 88.

A veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps, he lived in Davis for 47 years. He retired after 27 years as a professor of environmental horticulture at UC Davis, and was known internationally for his published works, research and consulting for numerous governmental and private agencies. He was a past president of the International Plant Propagators Society, and after retirement he worked and taught courses in wetland revegetation around the nation. He was active in the Masons, Boy Scouts and UCD Agricultural Day.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Leiser; his children Chris Leiser, Mark Leiser and Kathy Leiser-Smith; step-children Jeanne Chasko, Caroline Fjord, Jim Dana and Steve Dana; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. His first wife, Vera H. Leiser, predeceased him.
