Bette M. Coffey passed away May 13, 2011, in Davis. She was 91.
Born Oct. 9, 1919, in London, she came to the United States in 1924 and lived for a time in Santa Barbara, Berkeley and then in Sacramento.
She was married to Alfred L. Coffey for 30 years until he passed away on Nov. 20, 1977.
She worked for the state Legislature office for Jesse Unruh from 1960 to 1970. She retired in 1975 and in 1977 moved to El Macero.
She married Richard Fuchs; they were married for 20 years until his death on May 16, 2006.
She was a member of the former Legislature assistants’ retirement club and the El Macero Country Club.
She is survived by her sister, Jean Phillips of St. Helena; her step-children Sondra (Dave) Bruno of Gautier, Miss., Brianne Granholt of Carson City, Nev., Mary “Kit” Fuchs of Sacramento and Richard Fuchs of Burlingame; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Hilda Phillips, and husbands Alfred Coffey and Richard Fuchs.
A memorial gathering will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the El Macero Country Club. Interment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Napa Valley Memorial Park Mortuary.
