Beverly Diane Payne

Payne, Beverly

July 1, 1933 – April 14, 2013

Beverly Payne was born in Seattle on July 1, 1933. Beverly always distinguished herself with her sharp wit and intellect. She was valedictorian of her high school class and she studied at the University of Washington. She married George Lanning, moved to Riverside, Calif., and they had four children, Steven Lanning (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Karen Bjornestad (Forest Falls, Calif.), Christopher Lanning (Cypress, Calif.) and Susan Fox (Tucson, Ariz.).

Beverly left California after her children had moved out of the house to take a new job in Columbus, Ohio, where she met Jim Payne. They married in Florida and later moved to Florida. Beverly moved to Davis in 2002 after the death of her beloved Jim. In Davis, Beverly built a new life, took classes at UC Davis, rejoined the Unitarian Church and contributed to the community, embracing her love of gardening and walking her dog Sadie. She will be greatly missed by her friends and neighbors.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 28th at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Center Building at Ranch Yolo Senior Park off Pole Line Road in Davis. There will be a private family ceremony to spread her ashes May 18.
