Dr. Frances Zeman died on Feb. 8, 2013, at the University Retirement Community, where she had lived for the past 13 years.

Ms. Zeman was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 5, 1925. She subsequently taught in the nutrition department at Kent State University. She came to UC Davis, in 1964. Throughout her life, Ms. Zeman was an avid traveler, an animal lover and a loyal supporter of the University of California educational system. A dog lover, Ms. Zeman took her beloved Scruffy to visit patients in the URC Health Services and Special Care Units to cheer up their day.

Ms. Zeman is survived by her cousin, Noreen, and her three adult children, Brad, Hank and Hannah Robinson. Ms. Zeman was a part of their Atlanta family Christmas celebration for 25 years.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at 2 pm at University Retirement Community at 1515  Shasta Dr. in Davis. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a local humane society of your choice.
