Francis William (Bill) Borst Jr. of El Macero passed away May 6 after a brave battle with leukemia. He was 85.

Born and raised on Long Island, N.Y., Bill served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and retired from the Navy after 27 years as Lieutenant Commander in Salinas.
