Gladys Carolyn Adams passed away on June 24, 2014, in Davis. Gladys, born in Comrey, Alberta, Canada, was the third of five children born to Christian Hoversten and Julia Ogaard. The family lived in Canada, North Dakota and Minnesota.
In 1942, Gladys married John McClelland Adams. In 1943, Gladys received a master’s degree in nursing from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She served as a nurse in the 187th General Hospital group in the United Kingdom during World War II. After the War, John remained in the Air Force and the family lived numerous places.
Gladys is survived by her children: Charles J. Adams of Alexandria, Virginia; Margaret C. Adams of Davis; and Patricia K. Aldridge of Pasco, Washington. She also is survived by grandchildren: Christa Wilder and Michelle Aldridge; Holly Phillips and Julie Adams; and five great-grandchildren.
At her request, no funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (www.vfw.org).
