Joel William Lubin, M.D., of Davis, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012. He had been an area resident for seven years.

Joel was born June 5, 1969, in Oxnard to Linda Fingerhut and Michael Lubin. He graduated with a bachelor’s of science from UC Davis with high honors and then from Tufts Medical School. Joel became board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and worked in Davis as an orthopedic surgeon, holding himself to the highest of standards for his patients.

Joel was a very devoted father to his children and wanted to be with them at all times. He provided humor, happiness and total devotion, being a loyal husband and constant companion. Joel enjoyed snow skiing, biking, fly fishing, hiking, camping and being outdoors with his family.

Joel is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Jenny R. Lubin; his three children, Joshua, Taylor and Parker; his parents, Mike and Linda Lubin; and his brother, Mark Lubin (wife Jennifer). He also was loved and respected by the community of Davis that he served so well.

A funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Wiscombe Funeral Home; 116 D St. in Davis. A private burial will take place following the funeral. Joel’s family will receive guests at a reception at 1 p.m. at the UC Davis Alumni Center.

A memorial service sponsored by Sutter Medical Group, Sutter Medical Foundation and Sutter Davis Hospital will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in the main auditorium at the University of California Davis, Hyatt Place Hotel, 173 Old Davis Road Extension, Davis.
