Kari Lynn Wilson was born in Sacramento on Feb. 11, 1971, and passed away July 29, 2014. She graduated from Davis High School in 1989, attended Sacramento Community College, UC Davis and graduated as a Regents Scholar and member of Kappa Delta Sorority from UC Santa Barbara in 1995. She went on to pursue her dream to become a physician and attend Wake Forest University’s Bowman Gray School of Medicine, graduating in 2000. Kari completed her family medicine residency at Scottsdale Health Care in 2002.

Kari practiced family medicine in Del Mar and at Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. She loved medicine and especially enjoyed working with the families of the military on the base.

While at the Marine base, Kari contracted H1N1 (swine flu) and never recovered. Her compromised immune system was then attacked, resulting in the development of CFS/ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis). She suffered terribly from this disease for five long years.

Kari will be remembered for her love of animals, travel, jewelry-making and her love and loyalty to her friends and family. She loved the beach, especially Hawaii.Kari was highly intelligent, beautiful on the inside and out and quite witty!

Kari will be greatly missed. She is survived by her mother Lynda Wilson, father Floyd Wilson, sister Dawn Combe, half-sister Kimberly Wilson, adoring nieces Riley and Reece Combe, brother-in-law Steve Combe, many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as her beloved pug Zoe.

A celebration of Kari’s life will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at 9 a.m. at Putah Creek Lodge on the UC Davis campus, Davis, CA. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in her name to the National CFIDS Foundation, 103 Aletha Road, Needham, MA 02492 (, to the ASCPA or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
