La Vonne (Bonnie) J. Allen passed away on Feb 16, 2014, at 85. She was born on July 10, 1928, in Baker City, Oregon.

She worked at UC Davis in Housing and Grants and Contracts. She was active in the Woodland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she was president from 1975 to 1976 and served on the hospital’s Board of Directors. She also helped with the gift shop, and was a member of the Tray Favor Group.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha Byers; her brother, William H. Byers Jr.; and her husband, UC Davis professor Merlin W. Allen. She is survived by two cousins in Minnesota, Mary Zabel and Sharon Whelan.

A celebration of life service will begin April 5th at 2 p.m. at American Legion Hall, 523 Bush St. in Woodland. Remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army or SPCA.
