1918-2011

Mary Agnes Oliver Gray passed from this life into the sureness and hope of resurrection to eternal life on April 6, 2011. She was a native of Brantford, Ontario, Canada, one of five children born to Agnes and George Oliver.

She, her husband David and their three children moved to Davis in 1952. She worked at UC Davis for almost 25 years and retired in 1981 as fleet manager — the first female manager at that time. She and her husband of 62 years enjoyed a long, happy retirement until Dave’s death in 2002. Her family and friends were her priorities in life and she requested that special thanks be extended to her neighbors Rosemary and Rex Marsh, Lois and Les Partridge and Chris and Ken Shackle for their kind support.

She leaves her three loving children: Pam and her husband Ross Hays of Seattle, Bob and his wife Julie Gray of Fresno, and Lynda and her husband Dave Basinger of Athens, Ala. She also leaves her four granddaughters: Louisa Hays of Madison, Wis.; Francesca Hays of New York City; Emily Burton of Los Angeles; and Jessica Burton of Portland, Ore.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617, or to Citizens Who Care, 1017 Main St., Woodland, CA. Plans for a service in early May will be announced at a later date.
