Pleau, Richard

April 13, 1952 — Dec. 15, 2011

Richard Lawrence Pleau passed away Dec. 15, 2011, in Sacramento after fighting a six-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was 59.

Richard was born on April 13, 1952, in San Francisco and moved to Davis that same year. He graduated from Davis High School and worked in the construction industry for most of his life.

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2006, Richard retired and was able to spend precious time with his family, take community college classes and develop his artwork. His interests included writing poetry, gardening, making and appreciating art, being Poppi to his grandchildren, listening to music and reading.

Richard is survived by his wife, Robin Brady Pleau, and their three children: daughter Kristen Pleau and her husband, Dan Riddell; daughter Alissa Pleau-Fuller and her husband, Ryan Fuller; and son Daniel Pleau. He also is survived by his parents Lawrence and Nathalie Pleau; sister Liz (Dave) Hosmer; brothers Dennis Pleau, Jim (Judy) Pleau and John (Cindi) Pleau; grandchildren Alexander Riddell and Brooke Fuller; sisters-in-law Rhonda Rampy and Kim Sorbello; and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews and other family members and friends. Richard was preceded in death by Colleen Laughlin and his son, Jason Pleau.

Richard was a kind, caring and loving man who was incredibly giving and generous. He will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial celebration of his life is planned at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, in the Davis Community Church Fellowship Hall, 421 D St., Davis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the International Myeloma Foundation or BloodSource. Please mail donations in memory of Richard Pleau to: BloodSource, 10536 Peter A. McCuen Blvd., Mather, CA 95655-4128 or the International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Dr., Suite 206, North Hollywood, CA 91607.
