Born Oct. 9, 1929, in Sacramento, William “Bill” Darrell Firth passed away May 28, 2011, in Woodland. He was 82 years old.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret and parents Darrell and Gerta and loving sister Shirley. He is survived by his two stepdaughter,s Sharon Huitt and Carol Johns, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bill worked and retired from the University of California, Davis, where he worked for more than 25 years, and also served in the U.S. military. While working at the university, he always rode his bicycle and everyone knew him as the really tall man on the bike. He loved going to Tahoe, and later on it was Cache Creek Casino where he would make his donations.

He was the kindest, most thoughtful, gentle man you could ever meet, who loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he was proud of each one. Services will be private but anyone wishing to donate may do so in his name to the American Heart Association.

He will be greatly missed and forever cherished by his family. Rest in peace, Grandpa!
