April 11, 1938 — Jan. 31, 2013
William “Bill” Davies, a resident of Davis, born April 11, 1938, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2103, after a brief battle with interstitial lung disease.
Bill was a native San Franciscan and loyal 38-year employee for the Southern Pacific. Bill retired to Davis in 2008 with his lifelong companion, Connie Davies. Here, they made a number of friends and enjoyed community throughout Davis, Woodland and Sacramento.
Bill is survived by Connie Davies of Davis; children Maggie and Tim Murtagh of San Francisco, Paul and Julie Davies of Brentwood, and Donna and Rick Ramírez of Davis. He adored his four grand-daughters Mackenzie, Madison, Sarah and Maya and held a close friendship with his former wife, Pauline. Bill was part of an extensive community of “friends of Bill W” — fellowships in San Francisco, Denver, Morro Bay and Woodland, who describe “still Bill” as grateful, friendly, thoughtful and accepting.
Bill was a strong supporter of community-based recovery programs. Donations made to the Yolo Wayfarer Center, 530-662-2699, are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life at noon March 2 at the Davis Senior Center. 646 A St. in Davis.
