March 16, 1929 — April 11, 2012
Winston William Williams passed away peacefully on April 11, 2012, in Tucson, Ariz.
The son of Faye Vance Smalley and William Oscar Williams, he was born on March 16, 1929, in Berkeley. Winston enjoyed sharing stories of his childhood years growing up in Davis with his sister Joy Lorene Williams Yates, who predeceased him in June 1993.
He relocated to San Pedro in 1949, when he proudly enlisted in the Navy for the Korean War, where he met his wife Dolores Jean Gill. Dolores and Winston were married on July 16, 1954, and enjoyed more than 57 years together. They lived in San Pedro, where they raised their children until they relocated to Tucson in 2008. Winston was very proud of his career in the aerospace industry making parts for many historically significant craft, including the Apollo 13, B-1 bomber, Space Shuttle and Stealth Fighter Jets.
He is survived by his wife Dolores; their two children, Jenny and Donald Williams and their spouses; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Saturday, April 14, at Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson. A Memorial to celebrate Winston’s life will be held within the next few months, contact Jenny Stewart at (520) 360-5899 for details.
In lieu of flowers Winston wished for donations to be made to the Gary Senise Foundation Veterans Charity.
