Don’t exploit students for your agenda
I am a resident of Davis and an employee of UC Davis.
I resent that people who are not residents and do not have a university affiliation are exploiting recent unfortunate events to promote their agendas.
My sense is that more than 99 percent of our students wish to pursue their education without these distractions. I support the minority of students who wish to peaceably demonstrate their right of free speech, but I do not support others who are using our campus to get media attention and disrupt the peace of our wonderful community and university.
I vote to let authorities deal with the pepper-spraying incident equitably and then move on with our lives.

Mr. Lukas,
I am a UC Davis alum. However, even if I were not I must strongly disagree. Justice is something that should be in place for everyone. If we are a resident of California, a citizen of the United States, a human being it is imperative that we see justice handled properly, or we fail in our responsibilities to ourselves.
Too many times we have been asked to step aside when power is abused. Let’s move forward, we say! Let’s not get distracted by all of that horribleness!
This merely further emboldens those who would abuse power.
When the Chancellor has made it her “Vision” to add 5000 students, mainly from out-of-state and out of the country, what happens at UC Davis is no longer a local issue.
