It’s been called UC Davis’ “darkest hour.”
The pepper-spraying of about a dozen nonviolent protesters by university police Nov. 18 on the campus Quad catapulted UCD into the headlines around the world and transformed the protesters into the poster children of the Occupy movement.
The spraying and its aftermath are The Enterprise news staff’s unanimous choice for top local story of 2011. With about a half-dozen investigations under way, with calls for Chancellor Linda Katehi’s resignation continuing unabated and with protesters vowing to renew their occupation in early January, the story promises to grab headlines for many months to come.
