At Executive Cleaners, people can get their clothes dry cleaned or altered by a company that does its part for the environment.
“We have joined the Drycleaning & Laundry Institutes Hanger Recycling program to keep track of hanger recycling each year, we offer green reusable garment bags and encourage customers to use little or no plastic garment bags,” said 15-year owner Lydia Chu.
The business also contributes to the community. “Every couple of years we gather old clothes that were never picked up and sell them for donations which are given to local elementary schools,” Chu added.
She learned much about running a business from her parents who owned a manufacturing company.
Sewing since she was 10 years old, Chu does the alterations, and co-manages all three Davis locations: 1260 Lake Blvd., 638 G St. and 2101 Cowell Blvd.
In August, she’ll open a new store, Executive Alterations & Formalwear, at 764 Fifth St. in downtown Davis, exclusively for alterations and tuxedo rentals and sales.
In the next few years, Chu hopes to expand on pickup and delivery service and on formalwear rental and sales.
