Blue Devils get by Franklin with ease

After starting off Delta Valley conference play with an easy win on Tuesday, the Davis High girls tennis team made it look even easier on Thursday.

Playing another DVC home match, the Blue Devils charged through doubles play, dropping just one game in six sets, on their way to a 9-0 victory over Franklin.

While DHSÕ Grace Landon was winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6, the DevilsÕ top singles players, No. 1 InŽs Guinard and No. 2 Mari Cajandig, each beat their opponents 6-1, 6-0. Easy victories by DavisÕ Naomi Wainwright, Anna Klavins and Ceci Cajandig rounded out the singles matches.

In doubles, the Blue Devils had an even easier time as the No. 1 squad Ñ Briki Cajandig and Caron Miller Ñ topped FranklinÕs Christine Nguyen and Brianna Blaschke without losing a game. Ginny Hartz and Kelly Chuck followed suit at No. 2, while DHSÕ Hanna Jolkovsky and Jasmin Mould won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3.

The Devils return to the Community Park Tennis Complex on Tuesday, when they will host new DVC member Grant at 3:45 p.m.
