As the high school lacrosse season moves into the final two weeks, the Blue Devil junior varsity team continues to build up its record with wins against Campolindo and Northgate to continuing a five-game win streak.
DHS started the week with a 4-3 overtime victory over Campolindo.
The Blue Devil defensive group — Connal Hart, Max Guida, Daniel Pardee, Alexander Lutkenhouse, Aidan Prien and Nilesh Haile — formed a wall, shutting down the Cougar offense.
“Nilesh!” said Davis coach Zach Mosle. “He is a one-man army.”
The Cougars were able to muster just five shots the whole game, with DHS keeper Vikram Prathap stopping two of them.
The Blue Devil attackers also were trouble for the Cougars’ defense, with Amesbury scoring two goals and Gus Realyvasquez adding a tally to tie the score at the end of regular time.
In overtime, the Cougars won the face-off, but Amesbury managed to get the ball, run down to the Campolindo goal and score — winning the game 11 seconds into the extra period and completing a hat trick at the same time.
The Devils started slow on Friday against the Warriors, but rallied to move into halftime knotted at five before winning, 9-6.
Amesbury continued to dominate the field, netting six goals, adding that double hat trick to his three-goal game from earlier in the week. Austin Leck, Shaun Smith and Andy Miller also contributed to the avalanche of goals.
The Davis defense continued to hold a firm line, allowing only one goal during the second half and frequently advancing the ball down to the Northgate defensive goal.
The Blue Devils play at Bella Vista on Friday.
