Under first-year coach Nick Juri, the Davis High boys lacrosse team managed a 9-10 overall record, earned a playoff berth and, according to conference officials, took a handful of all-Bay Shore Athletic League honors in the process.
Midfielder/attacker Mikie Schlosser was the lone Blue Devil given first-team accolades as the sophomore scored 58 of DHS’ 123 goals in 2011. He also had 18 assists, fielded 40 ground balls and was credited with 11 takeaways.
Schlosser netted three game-winning, overtime goals, the tallies coming against Bella Vista, Jesuit and Campolindo.
A trio of Davis players — Rudy Buhlman, Daniel Rowen and Carson Stone — earned second-team all-Bay Shore honors.
Sophomore Buhlman was the foundation of the scrappy DHS defense. He led the Devils with 55 steals, while capturing 54 grounders and scoring a goal as a long-pole defender.
Junior midfielder Stone was a face-off specialist, winning 70 percent of his confrontations. He collected 104 ground balls, had nine takeaways, scored eight goals and assisted on four others.
Rowen, a freshman, had 10 goals and two assists, 14 grounders rounded up and seven takeaways, while playing every game at midfield.
Austin Barden, Mark Bruemmer and Dillard Brown were honorable-mention BSAL picks.
Senior Barden, another long-pole defender, garnered 41 ground balls, had 38 takeaways and scored a goal.
Bruemmer scored 18 times from his attack position. The freshman also dished out 11 assists, tallied 11 grounders and had five steals.
Brown, a senior midfielder, collected 31 ground balls, had five takeaways and scored eight times. He had five assists.
