It’s been a busy, busy week in Davis Little League — punctuated by some nail-bitters and strong hitting performances in the Majors division.

For example, the Yankees squeaked past the Red Sox, 7-6, in a game one coach called “a classic, well-played game.”

After falling behind 5-1 in the third, the Yanks’ Demetrius Hyder blasted a three-run homer, tying the game and sparking a five-run fourth-inning rally.

Malcolm Burns had two hits and Krishan Parbhu walked twice and singled in the win.

Adam Dapkewicz and Parbhu shared the their team’s pitching duties while Yankee right fielder Juan Soto turned in a run-saving web gem.

For the Sox, Owen Millward hit a two-run dinger, Braeden Schimmel went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, while Mikey Finerty (2-for-2) scored twice. Gabe Dirksen ended a Yankee rally with a slick fielding play and Finerty struck out the side in a scoreless fifth.

And the beat went on …

Blue Jays 5, Twins 3 — Pitchers Nate Barclift and Mark Scheiber excelled, holding the Twins to just a three-run third, while first baseman Mark Studer turned in a web gem and doubled.

Iain Smith also doubled and Cade Sanders, David Studer, Barclift all added key hits for the Jays.

Twins Brady Nelson (two RBIs), Payne Barksdale (two hits, RBI) and Jackson Chavira (hit and a run) provided solid at-bats.

Chavira led a quartet — including Kopper Kijanka, Luis Baribay and Tyler Herrera — on the mound. Nate Coleman was solid in center.

Braves 8, Dodgers 3 — Conner Malone homered and drove in two and Kel Williams pitched three innings of no-hit ball for the winners.

In striking out six, the Dodgers couldn’t score against Williams, who scored twice himself. Will Fehrenbacher, Cody Taylor, Tomas Fong, Ben Busano and DeMasi also contributed at the plate.

Griffin Szymoniak and Roland Watts turned in great Dodger fielding plays while Szymoniak and Charles Karagosian pitched well.

Mets 8, Red Sox 7 — Close games were the norm for the competitive Red Sox, but two good fielding plays by Liam Sheehan held them to one run in sixth as and the Mets prevailed in this one.

Brandon Folb — who turned in two nice plays in the fifth — was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

A six-run fifth inning — with Cole Bertrand and Nick Haverlock running wild — was the difference for the Mets.

Adam Hasson went 2 1/3 nifty innings to get the win.

Sox muscle man Jack Walsh was 3-for-3 with a home run and a double, his big bat driving in four runs.

Additionally, in 3 1/3 innings on the mound, Walsh allowed but one hit and struck out seven. Matthew Young had an excellent defensive play.

Joseph Fields and Danny Davidson also had RBIs.

A’s 9, Mets 5 — Blasting a home run and a double, Josh Catacutan led an 11-hit A’s attack.

Joby Antony went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Owen Lingbloom singled three times and drove in a run of his own.

Jordan Painter and Ethan Ramos doubled and Aramis Westfall and Carson Bain added RBIs.

Avery Turkovich, Ramos and Catacutan turned in dazzling fielding plays to limit late Met comeback attempts.

Mark Datanagan was 3-for-4 to go with plate contributions from Mets teammates Nick Haverlock, Liam Sheehan, Nicholas Cooper and Brandon Folb.

Braves 12, Blue Jays 4 — Connor Malone and Will Fehrenbacher homered and Cody Taylor and Cameron DeMasi collected a double and a single each as the Braves scored in every inning.

Fahrenbacher added a double and Malone a single.

Combining on the mound, Jospeh Asta, Fehrenbacher, Kyle Tanner and Luke Carrell struck out 10.

A’s 9, Giants 3 — Catcher Josh Catacutan smacked two round-trippers and turned in a slick fielding play to lead the winners.

Brennan Peiffer and Mason Johnstone had two singles each, while Ty Soderquist added an RBI double. Colby Mayer and Peiffer pitched well.

Red Sox 9, Twins 5 — Scoring seven times in the final innings, the Sox ended their close-game string with a win.

Walsh loaded up again, going 3-for-3 with another home run. He had three RBI.

Danny Davidson, Brad Park, Mikey Finerty, Gabe Dirksen (two RBIs) and Joseph Fields each added important hits.

Gabe Lee and Owen Millward joined Dirksen in pitching well, while Adam Levitt, Dirksen and Davidson were strong afield.

Yankees 9, Giants 3 — In a game featuring 18 walks, Garrett Emmons and Ishan Malik contributed key safeties.

Pitcher Emmons went 5 2/3 innings with Adam Dapkewicz closing things out in the Yankee win.

Blue Jays 9, Reds 8 — Grafton Shorts and Iain Smith collaborated on a rally-killing double play after Shorts contributed a key double to the Jays cause.

The Reds scored three times in the final inning to make it close, but couldn’t overcome the Jays’ four-run first.

Braves 9, Red Sox 7 — Ben Busano slugged a grand slam in a six-run first before the Braves had to hold off a late charge by the Sox.

Kyle Tanner added a double, scoring two.

Brave Kel Williams smacked a two-run homer in the fourth.

It was back to those close outings for the Sox, who rallied for four runs in the fifth but came up just short.

Owen Millward (2-for-3) doubled in a run and Mikey Finerty went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Joseph Fields, Adam Levitt and Matthew Young all added safeties, while Ben Park, Levitt and Gabe Dirksen were defensive standouts.

Yankees 12, Reds 1 — Adam Dapkewicz, Krishan Parbhu and Garrett Emmons combined for a one-hitter as every Yankee reached base at least once on offense.

Leaders at the plate were Juan Soto, Dapkewicz, Demetrius Hyder, Elliot Greve and Ishan Malik. Burns had a nice use of his glove to end the game.
