Comcast to carry Cal, Ags

UC DavisÕ season-opening football game at Cal on Sept. 4 Ñ the first matchup between the programs in more than 70 years Ñ will be broadcast by Comcast SportsNet California (Davis Channel 34). Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Berkeley.

The Aggies appeared on television four times last season, including matchups against nationally ranked Boise State, NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision power Montana, Great West Conference member South Dakota, and Causeway Classic rival Sacramento State.

The matchup between UC Davis and Cal is the first between the programs since 1939 and the AggiesÕ first against a Pac-10 school since upsetting Stanford in 2005.

The game will start an 11-game season that includes five games at Aggie Stadium. UC Davis will open the home slate on Sept. 11 against Portland State.
