In about five years, look for Davis High girls soccer coach Sara Stone to be walking around with a smile on her face.

That’s because the town is brimming with U12 talent, as was shown at last weekend’s Pleasant Hill Soccerfest when Davis teams swept the top three spots. The Frost took first place, beating the Domination in the title game, with the Warning grabbing the bronze.

Frost

The Davis Frost allowed just four goals in five games — winning four — on their way to the championship.

Annie Mitchell got the locals started in a big way as she scored all four goals in a shutout victory over the Pleasant Hill Nightlock in the group-stage opener.

Following a 2-1 loss to Mountain View — in which Ruthie Mitchell tallied and goalkeeper Nina Martin played well — the Frost completed group play with a 2-0 win over Mount Diablo. In that contest, goals came from Adeline Umphress and Ruthie Mitchell, while Maya Wood and goalie Sophia Young paced the local defense.

That set up a semifinal matchup with the Davis Warning. The Frost used goals from Annie Mitchell — off a corner kick by Jessica Barber, who also played strong defense — and Umphress to edge the Warning, 2-1. Carolanne McLennan had several big saves to help send the Frost into the championship contest against the Davis Domination.

In the finals, Annie Mitchell scored early and Bella Heeren worked tirelessly in the midfield before Umphress set up an overtime game-winner by Chloe Sears to hand the Frost the title.

Domination

On their way to the championship in Pleasant Hill, the Davis Domination got outstanding defensive play by Laurel Krovetz, Claire Stevens, Julia Albertson, Sara Ludden and Caroline Duncan to follow an early tie with three consecutive shutouts.

After Chella Grattet scored twice in a 2-2 deadlock against the Pleasant Hill Sabotage, the Domination exploded for a 5-0 win over the Mountain View Blast. Goals in that game came from Grattet (two),  Claire Duisenberg, Alissa Casillas and Allison Ayers.

Next, the locals ended group play by edging Mount Diablo, 1-0 — on Mitchelle Atungulu’s tally — before defeating Mountain View, 2-0, in the semifinals behind goals from Lucia Ferrer and Grattet.

In the championship contest, Grattet scored early and a 1-1 tie lasted until overtime before the Davis Frost eventually topped the Domination.

Warning

The Davis Warning earned third place at Soccerfest by outscoring their opponents 11-5 over five games in which it went 4-1.

Wins over Pleasant Hill, Sunnyvale and Concord began the weekend and a matchup with Mountain View began with Warning scoring just nine seconds into the game and ended in victory.

Throughout the weekend, local scoring came from Meghan Eisenman, Leah Pinto, Abigail Johnson, Gia Fanucchi, Fiona Stachan-Payne and Lindsey Vernau, with assists courtesy of Delaney Seward and Kylie Seward. The Warning also captured the bronze because of the strong defensive play of Averi Brayton, Angela Herrera and Alondra Arambula.

Milan

The Davis Milan, a U14 boys team, moved on to the NorCal quarterfinals with a resounding 5-0 defeat of San Jose Mexico in a recent elimination game.

Davis’ Cameron Peuse got a first-half hat trick, putting in the first two off precise passes from Ricky Gonzales and Isaiah Alba, then converting on a penalty kick after getting taken down in the box.

In the second half, Milan’s Sammy Walker dribbled through several players to make it 4-0 and local keeper Roberto Ortiz blasted a penalty kick into the net to end the scoring.

Throughout the game, Davis’ Dan Shuman, Mike Meadows-Smith and Bobby Scott controlled the midfield, while defenders Marco and Jorge Rocha-Figueroa, Jovanni Morales, Ryan Strong and Buddhika Ratnasari shut down San Jose.

Red Bulls

The Davis Legacy Red Bulls, a U11 boys team, opened the season with a 6-5 win over the Academy Force on Saturday, then tied Sac United, 3-3, on Sunday.

Ledger Petracek got the locals’ first goal of the campaign scoring off an assist from Zevik Citron and later, Ty Soderquist set up Cameron Demasi. Sepp Sanchirico and Soderquist each added single goals for Davis and Daniel Jarequi scored twice off assists from Petracek.

On Sunday, Jarequi scored the initial goal on a penalty kick and followed it up with a second solo goal. In the second half, Elan Kalman scored a solo goal to put the Red Bulls ahead by one before Sac United tied the game in the final minutes.

During both contests, strong defensive and offensive support were provided by Davis’ Eliot Liederman, Erick Martinez, Teagan Favorite, Tyler Venner and goalie Jerry Godfryd.
