The Davis High girls water polo team got to have some fun on Tuesday, cruising to an easy victory over Franklin at Arroyo Pool.
After the Blue Devils outscored the Wildcats, 17-0, through three quarters — improving to 14-4 overall and 3-0 in Delta Valley Conference play — the two teams mixed up players and scrimmaged for the final period.
“It wasn’t the most competitive game but a lot of players had a lot of success,” DHS coach Doug Wright said, adding that he was specifically pleased with the performances of Amelia Ziegler, Jessica Hughes and Zoei Nijjar.
Kinsey Van Deynze paced the Devils with three goals, and four players — Colby Stapleton, Emme Van Vorhis, Lara Vanderbilt and Lauren Owen — found the net twice.
Heather Johnson, Alyssa Alvarez, Kendal Doten, Monica Ferrera and Nijjar each scored one goal for Davis, which now prepares for a much more competitive Thursday home matchup against St. Mary’s (5 p.m.)
“That is going to be a tough game,” Wright said. “We beat them 8-3 last week, but we only led 2-1 at halftime, so we are going to have to bring our A game (Thursday).”
