Devil golf contingent headed to Scotland

By From page B1 | June 25, 2014

Last summer, as a coach and chaperone for a group of U.S. prep standouts that traveled to Scotland for the St. Andrews American High School Championship, Davis High mentor Rhonda Mohr saw the benefits for the athletes first hand.

Because of that, and based on their strong performances in helping the Blue Devils reach the 2013 Sac-Joaquin Section Masters tournament, Mohr nominated DHS players Casey Harris and River Yuexin — as well as incoming freshman Marie Dean — to make the trip this year.

Harris and Yeuxin earned All-Delta Valley Conference honors last fall and will be seniors for next season’s Devil squad.

On Saturday, the local trio will arrive in Scotland to join Mohr, who is already there as she will once agin serve as a chaperone. Starting next week, the group will get a chance to play at some of the most historic golf courses in the world.

Mohr said huge thanks go to the community as the trip would not have been possible without support provided by fundraising efforts.
