Ryan Amesbury scored more goals than the opposition as the Davis High boys lacrosse team defeated Tamalpais 17-4 at Ron & Mary Brown Stadium on Friday night.

Seven different Blue Devils put the ball in goal. Amesbury led DHS with five goals, while Mikie Schlosser and Willie Hawkins each recorded a hat trick. Kian Reno and Sam Eaton had two goal apiece, and Mark Bruemmer and Aidan Delpanque tallied one goal each.

The Blue Devils took control from the opening quarter as Reno went 3 for 3 on face offs and goalie Vikram Prathap came up with a save. Sam Gellen paced the defense and ignited the offense as his steals were turned into goals at the other end of the field.

DHS led 2-1 after the opening stanza, but the Hawks scored early in the second quarter to knot the score, 2-2. Amesbury and Kevin Klenzendorf turned into a defensive wall, effectively shutting down Tamalpais’ offense. The Blue Devils posted four goals in quick succession by Eaton, Brummer and Reno (two) and continued to build momentum and led 11-3 at the half.

In the second half, Yuto Okamoto and Spencer Zenner had stellar defense, and Prathap notched another save.

Prathap opened the fourth quarter with a save, and Connal Hart intercepted a Hawks pass to set up Delplanque’s goal.

The Blue Devils travel to Bella Vista for a match on Tuesday and return home to face Oak Ridge at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
