PALO ALTO — The Davis High boys tennis team won three of six singles matches, but it wasn’t enough as Gunn swept the doubles action en route to a 6-3 nonleague victory Friday.
Blue Devil Glenn Hull topped his man Ameya Rao 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and DHS’s No. 2 man Andrew Dumit edged Staya Badduluri 6-4, 6-3. At No. 4, Paul Klavins rallied to defeat Thomas George 6-7, 6-3, 6-3.
Garrett Hosley battled at No. 3 before falling 7-5, 6-3 to Isaac Wang. Russ Richardson was defeated by Alex Mattys 3-6, 6-4, 7-5, and Isaac Yee fell to Caleb Choy 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles action, Isaac Zhang and Sean Mishra were shut out by Clifton Wolak and Kevin Macario 6-0, 6-0. Matt Buckley and Sam Theg caused Joe Atlas and Jack Kwan trouble before falling 7-5, 7-5. Ben Alpers and Scott Lucio were defeated by Eric Noh and Agner Kreps 6-2, 7-5.
