DHS boys work on offense in easy win

With a showdown against St. Mary’s on the schedule for Thursday, the Davis High boys water polo team used Tuesday’s 13-0 victory at Arroyo Pool as a chance to tune up.

Coach Tracy Stapleton had his Blue Devils working on offensive movement, as they improved to 12-4 and 4-0 in Delta Valley Conference with the win over Franklin.

Within that framework, DHS saw three seniors lead the scoring push as Zac Anderson posted a hat trick and Graham Fullerton and Alex Borowsky notched two goals each. Single Devil tallies came from Garrett Fisk, Ben Diamant, Valente Dolcini, Sam Burke, Nick Masson and Cameron Wright.

Now the locals get set to host the Rams — a Sac-Joaquin Section title contender just like the Blue Devils — in a 4 p.m. contest on Thursday at Arroyo.

“We want to be strong defensively and a little more patient offensively,” Stapleton said. “It’s not that we want to be methodical, we want to be aggressive. But we don’t always have to take a shot early in the shot clock if we can work for a better shot.”
