Davis High cross country teams cruised to easy victories Tuesday in the second and final Delta Valley Conference meet of the season at Granite Regional Park. The Delta Valley Conference Championships will be contested on Nov. 2 at the Willow Hills course, adjacent to Folsom High School.
The varsity girls, currently ranked sixth in California in Division 1 (large schools), put five runners in the top eight to finish first with a score of 24 points. Franklin (Elk Grove) was second with 52 points. Top-five runners for the girls were Fiona O’Keeffe (second), Sofia Castiglioni (third), Maggie McManis (fourth), Giulia McIsaac (seventh) and Hallie Lassiter (eighth).
The varsity boys captured the second through sixth spots to secure a win over Monterey Trail. DHS scored 20 points to Monterey Trail’s 77 points. The boys were led by Jasper Laca (second), Brian Song (third), Ben Roberts (fourth), Charlie Harris (fifth) and Gavin Monges (sixth).
The Blue Devil harriers will compete next at the Clovis Invitational in Fresno on Saturday, Oct. 12. The meet, contested on the state meet course at Woodward Park, will be a rehearsal for the state meet championships in November.
