Elk Grove (8-1, 3-1) at Davis (5-4, 2-2) 7:15 p.m., Friday

Senior Night at Ron & Mary Brown Stadium

When the Blue Devils have the ball

One key: keep the ball as long as possible. If the Blue Devils establish a ground game and stay in the contest, expect them to try and control the clock with Winfred Roberson, Austin Lampley and a handful of other available DHS backs running behind a much-improved and senior-dominated offensive line.

When The Thundering Herd has the ball

As Davis coach Steve Smyte says, “Pick your poison…” between running backs Wadus Parker or Robert Frazier. The Devil offensive line must go toe-to-toe with the smallish Elk Grove line as linebackers Adam Inouye, Brendan MacDonald and Mike McTygue work to make Frazier and Parker run sideline-to-sideline. If the Herd duo is running north and south, Davis is in for a long night.

Last meeting

Davis lost to Elk Grove, 35-18, on Oct. 28, 2011. The Blue Devils have dropped 11 straight to The Herd, dating back to the 1990s — although many have been close games.
