DHS footballers face Foothill on Friday

It’s all about redemption for the Davis High football team on Friday at Foothill.

Head coach Marc Hicks’ first game at the helm did not go as planned when the Blue Devils were severely overmatched in a 40-0 loss at Yuba City. But there are many reasons to believe things will go differently for the locals in Week 2.

DHS seniors like Brendan MacDonald, Eli Castro, Bailey Murray and Winfred Roberson remember that last season started similarly, with a 48-21 loss to the same Honkers before getting right back on track with a 40-7 win over Foothill.

And more recent history shows that while the Devils were struggling at YCHS, Foothill was getting pounded by Oakmont, 40-14.

All those scores won’t mean everything when the locals take the field Friday night at 7:30 p.m. to face the Mustangs. But after an inspired week of practice, look for Davis to come out strong as it aims to make up for last week’s performance.
