DHS girls set for huge DVC matchup

By February 15, 2011

This won’t be no party. This won’t be no foolin’ around …

When the front-running Davis High girls host second-place Franklin for all the Delta Valley Conference basketball marbles tonight, the Wildcats (14-11, 7-1 in DVC) will have in mind last month’s 64-57 setback in their house.

The sixth-ranked Lady Blue Devils have won nine straight to improve to 18-6 overall and is 8-0 in DVC play, while Franklin has won seven of its last eight and will try to position itself for a second-straight conference crown.

Game time is 7 p.m. at The Cage.

DHS is paced by Malika Wilkins (15 points per game) and Khaliya Wilkins (14 ppg) while the Wildcats’ go-to scorer is Sarah Wilson (13 ppg).

The Devils can play a little defense, too. Ashleigh Vandenbrink, Ali Campos and Sarah Sadler have been rock-solid in stopping their assigned opponents.

Franklin went to the CIF quarterfinals last year, while Davis was 8-19 in 2009-10.
