By September 29, 2010

SUSANVILLE Ñ ItÕs been a while since the Davis High girls field hockey team has been on the losing end of a final score, and even longer since they have had a chance to avenge a loss.

That chance came Monday, when the Devils got revenge for their only preseason loss, with a 7-1 victory at Lassen.

Despite a 4 1/2-hour bus ride, DHS came out strong, with three early goals. Ali Campos ÑÊwho finished with three goals and two assists Ñ scored first just seven minutes into the game, and then assisted on a goal by Jennifer Gold. Ashley Pugh then made it a quick 3-0 lead off a short corner.

Just before halftime, DavisÕ Sarah Riesenberg made a splash by scoring a goal in her first game of the year because of an injury.

In the second half, Lassen connected on one of just two total shots in the game, but the Blue Devils countered with goals from Campos and Brynne Satre.

Emily Brown was integral in setting up the DHS offense all game long, while Lauren Holtz, Megan Whitworth and keeper Dominique Lowell headed a strong defense for the Blue Devils, who play a home match against Pleasant Valley today at 4:30 p.m.
