Finally, a DHS home football game

By From page B1 | September 20, 2013

For the first three games of 2013, Davis High football has duplicated last season’s performance, losing to Yuba City then beating Foothill and Armijo to open 2-1.

On Friday, the Blue Devils are looking to flip the script as they host Rio Americano in their home opener at Ron & Mary Brown Stadium.

In 2012, DHS gave away the game to the Raiders, 26-21, in its worst performance of the season, then went on to miss the playoffs by one victory.

The heat gave the Devils fit in that contest, a Saturday affair, but local fans excited to get their first glance at the 2013 Davis squad — each of the first three games were on the road — won’t have to worry about that with Friday’s 7:15 p.m. start time.

Under first-year head coach Marc Hicks, a former star Blue Devil RB, DHS has been a team that gets by on strong rushing and stingy defense, but practice this week has been focused on getting the passing game going. Junior quarterback Quinten Jones hopes to introduce himself to Devil fans Friday night with a breakout performance.
