Though she played 19 minutes and contributed two steals and two assists in an exhibition basketball outing against Redlands, UC Davis’ Molly Greubel shot just 1-for-6 from the floor and missed her only two free throw attempts.
Aggie fans need not worry, however. It turns out that Greubel plays better when it counts.
In Friday’s season opener against Pepperdine, the freshman guard from Santa Ana scored 16 points (making 2-of-3 from 3-point range and 8-of-10 foul shots) in her official UCD debut. The Greiner Athlete of the Week showed that she can play on both ends of the court by nabbing two more steals and even taking a charge.
Greubel will try to help the Aggies notch their first win of the season tonight at San Francisco. The nonconference matchup, which tips off at 7 p.m., is the first of three straight road games for the UCD women.
