Senior Laney Teaford was one of three Davis High tracksters — along with Sophie Meads and Han-ah Sumner — who were on not one but two school record-setting relay squads at last weekend’s Stanford Invitational. Teaford also took eighth in the girls mile race at Stanford.
The Greiner Athlete of the Week ran the opening leg of the distance medley relay — a 1,200-meter jaunt — and got out to a lead that her teammates would not relinquish. The quartet took first place in the race and its time of 12:21.01 broke the old Blue Devil benchmark by 15 seconds.
Teaford also performed well in the 4×800, helping DHS take fourth place and set a new program record by crossing in 9:30.16.
It was the third relay record for Teaford — and Sumner — as they also hold the Devil 4×400 mark, set at last year’s state championships.
At Stanford, Teaford ran the mile in 5:07.46.
