Greiner Athlete of the Week (02/13/13): Former Blue Devil hoopster Nikol Allison

For Davis basketball fans, Saturday afternoon’s game between the host UC Davis women and former Davis High standout Nikol Allison’s Cal Poly squad followed the perfect script.

Allison, now a senior who probably was playing her final competitive basketball game within the Davis city limits, had a monster performance, but the hometown Aggies held on for a 79-69 upset of the second-place Mustangs.

Local fans were reminded of the huge numbers Allison used to put up for the Blue Devils — a 20-point, 20-rebound night as a freshman and the 18 ppg with 11 rpg she averaged in league play as a senior — when the Greiner Athlete of the Week came off the bench to go for 22 points and seven boards at The Pavilion.

The 6-foot-2 Allison added 10 points (on 5-of-6 shooting) and nine rebounds in a Thursday win at Pacific.
