WEST SACRAMENTO — Fresno’s Juan Perez knocked in Ehire Adrianza with an infield single in the ninth inning, and the Grizzlies got past the Sacramento River Cats, 3-2, on Thursday at Raley Field.

The Cats and Grizzlies will continue their four-game set on Friday at 7:05 p.m. as former UC Davis right-hander Justin Fitzgerald (0-2, 7.36 ERA) pitches for Fresno against Sacramento’s Travis Banwart (5-5, 5.07).

In the Thursday’s loss, River Cats infielder Hiroyuki Nakajima extended his hit streak to eight games and provided all of his team’s offense with a two-run double in the fourth inning. His 10th two-bagger of the season tied the game at 2-2, and it remained that way until the ninth.

Perez tripled and scored on a Jeff Francouer RBI groundout in the first inning, and Roger Kieschnick knocked in the second Fresno run in the third.

Sacramento starter Bruce Billings continued his strong string of starts, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four. The right-hander has surrendered two runs or less in eight of his last 10 starts.
